Dordrecht- Last night Nigel Melker received a fantastic award in theatre Kunstmin in Dordrecht. On this yearly sports gala he was elected regional sports talent 2011.

Under the watchful eye of many well-known people from the Dutch top-class sport world Nigel climbed up the stage and received this award. The price was, accompanied by many nice words, presented by Eric Terpstra. Erica praised Nigel for his attitude and immediately told him he had won another fan. The two other nominees for talent of the year were korfball player Laurens Leeuwenhoek and former Feyenoord striker Luc Castaignos. Nigel's achievements in 2011 passed in review and were appreciated by the audience. Other winners of this evening were: Youri Zoon (Kite surfing): public award, Edith Bosch (Judo): sportswoman of the year, Albert Cristina (Volleybal): best regional coach, Robert Eenhoorn (baseball) oeuvre award, Rivium Rotterdam (Volleybal) best regional sports team and Rob Cordemans (Baseball) sportsman of the year.

RTV Rijnmond will broadcast the sports gala on Saturday 24th December on its regional broadcasting station, which, by means of digital TV, can be seen in almost the entire Netherlands.
